Man boarded boat in Biscayne Bay, kidnapped girlfriend at gunpoint, police say



NORTH BAY VILLAGE, Fla. – A 30-year-old guy already jailed on battery fees added two felonies into the combo Monday after Miami-Dade police mentioned he boarded a boat and kidnapped his girlfriend at gunpoint again in 2022.

According to an arrest document, on Sept. 3, 2022, the girl was once on a boat anchored in Biscayne Bay about 1,000 toes north of Shuckers Restaurant, positioned at the 79th Street Causeway in North Bay Village.

Police mentioned she and others have been looking forward to a taxi to take them again to the docks when her boyfriend, Miguel Angel Lopez, confirmed up on any other boat, boarded their vessel and pointed a handgun at the girl, not easy she get on his boat.

The girl, in concern for her protection, “hesitated,” police mentioned, at which level Lopez “grabbed the victim by the neck with his other hand,” then “pushed the victim towards his vessel and demanded (she) climb aboard.”

The document states he “sailed away” with the girl and later dropped her off at her house.

Lopez, of southwest Miami-Dade, was once arrested on unrelated fees Sunday and a corrections officer knowledgeable detectives of his arrest, police mentioned, resulting in a 2nd formal arrest on fees of armed kidnapping and annoyed attack with a firearm.

He was once being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $13,000 overall bond, in line with prison information.
