Locked door prevents South Florida shoplifting attempt | NewsRadio WFLA


Fort Lauderdale, FL – A person’s attempt to shoplift a whole lot of {dollars} value of clothes from a South Florida retailer was thwarted by a locked door.

According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, the unidentified suspect entered a Rainbow clothes retailer in Lauderdale Lakes round 8:15PM on December seventh.

The suspect was captured on surveillance footage shopping objects within the retailer for about half-hour, earlier than making an attempt to go away the shop with an armful of clothes that he did not pay for.

Unbeknownst to the suspect, the shop was about to shut and staff had locked the door, trapping the shoplifter inside.

The suspect grew to become offended when he realized the shop’s door was locked; and was filmed kicking the door, slamming in opposition to it, and shoving a employee to the bottom.

The suspect was finally in a position to depart the shop and fled the scene in a purple truck with roughly $200 value of merchandise.

BCSO deputies say the person may have merely unlocked the door and left with the clothes.
