Laura Muir has confirmed she will make her belated comeback in May after a again damage delayed her preparations for this summer time’s world championships.

The Olympic silver medallist has raced solely as soon as since November and deserted plans for an indoor marketing campaign due to the lingering difficulty.

But the 28-year-old has returned to full coaching and has focused a season-opener in the 1500m on the Birmingham Diamond League on May 21, the place she will tackle her coaching associate Jemma Reekie.

Muir stated: ‘To win my first global medal at the Olympics has really given me confidence that I’m able to making the rostrum (on the worlds).

‘It was frustrating for me not to be able to compete indoors over the winter, especially when my training had been going so well, but my focus was 100 per cent on getting healthy so I can be in the best possible shape to compete at the World and European Champs, as well as for Scotland at the Commonwealth Games this summer.’

Reekie, who was fourth in the 800m in Tokyo, is but to present kind in 2022 after combating glandular fever. She stated: ‘To finish fourth in the Olympic final was a huge achievement, but I was still disappointed because I knew I was capable of more than that.

‘The experience has made me stronger, and I think I’ve proved that to myself over this winter which has been fairly difficult. It will be a check for me stepping up to 1500m, however I thrive on racing, and I can’t wait to get again on the monitor alongside Laura. We each have large targets this summer time and we’ll proceed to push one another on.’
