Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear declares state of emergency over train derailment, chemical spill

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency in Rockcastle County following a multi-car train derailment on Wednesday that his place of job mentioned led to a chemical spill.

According to the governor’s place of job, by way of X (officially referred to as Twitter), a minimum of one house used to be evacuated, with groups running to evacuate extra.

“By issuing a state of emergency, we are ensuring that every state resource is available to help keep our families safe,” the governor mentioned in a commentary. “Please stay clear of this area as state, local and CSX officials respond.”

U.S. Route 25 used to be blocked in each instructions within the house because of the derailment, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet 8, mentioned in a post on Facebook.
