TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Kansas officials are investigating the death of a foster child who left a residential therapy facility, stole a truck and crashed right into a semitruck in Oklahoma final month.

The state Department of Children and Families confirmed it’s investigating what occurred to find out if there have been any regulatory violations on the facility the 13-year-old walked away from on Oct. 27, according to the Kansas City Star.

The teen had gone to a Halloween occasion in Independence, Kansas, on the day of the crash that was sponsored by the residential therapy program the place he was dwelling.
