WASHINGTON — The Justice Department will conduct a review of the law enforcement response to the lethal mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, a spokesperson introduced Sunday.
The vital incident review, requested by Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin, will embody a report on law enforcement actions on May 24 — the day of shooting. The report shall be carried out by the division’s Office of Community Oriented Policing.
“The aim of the review is to present an impartial account of law enforcement actions and responses that day, and to determine classes realized and greatest practices to assist first responders put together for and reply to energetic shooter occasions,” said Justice Department spokesman Anthony Coley.
“As with prior Justice Department after-action reviews of mass shootings and other critical incidents, this assessment will be fair, transparent, and independent.”

Rep. Val Demings, D-Fla., who served as a police chief in Orlando, mentioned on CBS’ “Face the Nation” Sunday that there should be a “thorough and complete investigation” of what occurred in Uvalde on the day of the shooting.
