Hurricane Ian causes cancelations, delays for DFW flights



More than 20 flights had been canceled Tuesday between DFW and Love Field, in line with Flight Aware

DALLAS — Hurricane Ian is disrupting journey throughout the nation and DFW is not any exception.

Airlines canceled greater than 20 flights and delayed greater than 100 at DFW and Love Field Tuesday, in line with Flight Aware. 

The overwhelming majority of canceled flights had been scheduled to or from Florida cities Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Key West and Fort Myers. 

The delays, although, are for flights scattered all through the nation.

Marla Prather made the final flight from Tampa to DFW Tuesday afternoon. The Dallas-born, now Tampa resident informed WFAA she flew house to Texas with out hesitation. 

“The weather’s fixing to be horrible and we stay in a trailer!” she stated.

“I’m like, safest place to be is home with mom!”

Prather’s unique flight was canceled, she stated. But she secured a spot on the flight that landed simply earlier than 2:30p.m. 

Lindsey Cartwright was additionally on that flight.

She was visiting her household in Tampa. Her mother and grandma can be compelled to experience out the storm there, she stated, as their flight was canceled. 

“I think they’re prepared,” she stated. “But obviously, them not being from the area, they’re a little scared.” 

Over at Love Field, Cristy Johnston landed in Dallas from Denver. 

She flew in to attend TCU’s mother and father weekend, and informed WFAA a couple of TCU mother and father Facebook web page. 

“They’re talking about how we should set up booths to give hugs to the Florida kids whose parents might not be able to make it,” she stated.

“I hope we get to, I hope we get to find those kids and give them the hugs they need if they can’t see their parents.”
