Hundreds of floats packed the Greenwood District to honor the lifetime of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through the forty fourth annual Tulsa parade.
Raitta Rogers took half within the parade for the primary time. She handed out copies of her guide, which is about her adolescence and the way the alternatives she made landed her in jail.
She has come a good distance since then and needs to share her story of perseverance with everybody.
“This is my first time coming out to participate in the parade,” stated Rogers. “It feels good to honor the Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy.”

“It’s really cool,” stated Kevin Hawkins, a senior drum main at Booker T. Washington High School. “I’ve marched in the MLK Parade since freshman year.”
