Heavy waves of sleet continue across Oklahoma


OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – We’re not executed with winter simply but as one other spherical of winter climate strikes into Oklahoma.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the next counties:

  • Murray
  • Pontotoc
  • Coal
  • Jefferson
  • Carter
  • Johnston
  • Atoka

  • Marshall
  • Bryan
  • Oklahoma
  • Grady.

The winter storm warning stays in impact till 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Beginning Wednesday morning, freezing rain and sleet will transfer into southwestern Oklahoma and unfold northeast.

The important wave of winter precipitation will continue within the metro till round midday. At this level, fashions are suggesting that we may see .10 accumulation of ice.

In addition to the freezing precip, Oklahomans can even should take care of wind chills close to -10 levels.

On Wednesday afternoon, the ice will continue to build up in southeastern Oklahoma. However, central Oklahoma can have a break with just a few gentle sleet or flurries.

By 11 p.m., gentle freezing rain, sleet, and even some snow will transfer in and final till mid-Thursday morning. With this wave, the metro may choose up a further .05 to .10 of ice or sleet.

Southeastern Oklahoma may see a major quantity of ice accumulation.

The storm system will likely be out of the state by Thursday afternoon.

The important impacts from the storm will likely be on bridges, roadways, and closures.
