TALLAHASSEE – Three state colleges will launch civics “academies” aimed at making ready high-school and faculty college students for careers in authorities, Gov. Ron DeSantis stated Monday.
The state is offering $6.5 million to create what’s being known as the Career Pathways for Public Service Initiative, with the academies at Florida State College at Jacksonville, Polk State College and Broward College.
Money for this system will come from the Civics Literacy Excellence Initiative, which DeSantis arrange final summer season utilizing $106 million in federal stimulus funds for faculties.
The academies are anticipated to open in August 2023. The colleges will companion with college districts, and college students will be capable of enroll within the packages beginning of their freshman yr of highschool, DeSantis stated.
