GOP lawmaker claims Kevin McCarthy elbowed him after meeting, sparking altercation

Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett, some of the 8 Republicans who voted to oust Kevin McCarthy from the speakership final month, claimed to ABC News that McCarthy elbowed him within the again after a House GOP assembly on Tuesday morning.

McCarthy denied this, in keeping with an NPR reporter who said she witnessed a part of the altercation.

But Burchett stated he was once chatting with the NPR reporter when McCarthy walked in the back of him and allegedly put his elbow deliberately into Burchett’s again. Burchett stated he was once driven ahead after which adopted McCarthy down the hallway to confront him.

According to the reporter, Burchett requested McCarthy: “Why’d you walk behind me and elbow me in the back?”

The former speaker replied: “I didn’t elbow you in the back.”

And Burchett responded: “You got no guts, you did so.”
