Georgia taxpayers to pay for Buckhead State Patrol location | Georgia



(The Center Square) — State officers showed Georgia taxpayers are at the hook for $1.3 million to construct a brand new Georgia State Patrol post at the grounds of the Governor’s Mansion in Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood.

State lawmakers integrated investment for the post, which officers say will have to assist in making the Buckhead neighborhood more secure, within the fiscal 2024 price range.

The state patrol showed it plans to assign 12 soldiers to the 1,750-square-foot facility, to be constructed close to the valuables’s front. Construction at the new post is predicted to get started subsequent 12 months.

“The patrol post will not only improve response times to incidents in and around the City of Atlanta but also improve coordination between state and local law enforcement,” House Speaker Jon Burns, R-Newington, stated in a press release.
