Gators Fall to Wildcats in Home Finale

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Tenth-ranked Florida volleyball workforce put up a valiant effort towards the No. 18 Kentucky Wildcats, however fell in three units on Sunday afternoon in Exactech Arena.

The Gators transfer to 21-5 on the 12 months and 13-3 in the SEC, whereas the Wildcats enhance to 18-7 general and 13-3 in league play. Both groups are tied atop the standings with two matches left to play.

Prior to the match, the Florida honored Marina Markova and Rhett Robinson throughout a Senior Day ceremony.

Kentucky took the tightly-contested first set 25-23 and adopted that with a 26-24 victory in the second. The Wildcats clinched the match with a 25-17 win in the ultimate body.

Florida completed the match with 4 aces, with Stucky, Adams, Beason and McKissock every tallying one.

The Gators shut out the common season with a sequence towards the Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford, Miss. The two-match sequence is slated to start on Nov. 25.

How It Happened

  • The first set was a back-and-forth battle from the soar, with Kentucky’s greatest lead being three and Florida’s greatest lead being one. The Wildcats took the one-point benefit into the media timeout, however out of the break, the Gators took the lead on the 17-16 mark. Kentucky answered with a 3-0 run to swing the benefit again in their course, forcing the primary Florida timeout of the body. Following the break, the Gators pulled again to inside one on the 24-23, however Kentucky held on to take the 1-0 lead in the match.  

    • The Gators hit .242 in the primary set, led by 5 kills from Beason.
