Galveston boat captain accused of keeping people’s ashes instead of spreading them at sea


A former boat captain for a Galveston fishing constitution was arrested after he allegedly did not scatter the ashes of at least three individuals at sea.

Cody Kenney was charged with three counts of abuse of a corpse, officers instructed KPRC, KSAT’s sister station in Houston.

Court paperwork state that he was a contract captain for the vessels “Island Girl” and “Hootie Who” of Aqua Safari and Galveston Deep Sea Fishing Charters.

The firm sometimes works with households to unfold ashes throughout ceremonies, the homeowners instructed KPRC. They stated some of the ceremonies, although, had been unaccompanied and achieved by Kenney throughout chartered fishing journeys.

Sometime in late 2021 or early 2022, he was given stays to scatter at sea.

After he resigned in September 2022, a container of stays was discovered within the storage of his former deckhand, authorities stated.

The homeowners then discovered two extra containers of stays on the vessels.

Court paperwork don’t say why Kenney didn’t unfold the ashes.
