Posthumous promotions

The fallen officers each received posthumous promotions Thursday forward of their joint funeral. 

Dustin Demonte, 35, was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant. Alex Hamzy, 34, went from officer to sergeant. 

A 3rd officer, 26-year-old Alec Iurato, was additionally wounded within the assault. He was handled and launched from the hospital the subsequent day.

Connecticut state police stated the officers responded to a 911 call a couple of home dispute between brothers. When they arrived, they have been ambushed. 

Police stated Sgt. Hamzy died on the scene. The eight-year veteran leaves behind a spouse, Katie. 

Lt. Demonte later died on the hospital. He was married to spouse Laurie and had two kids with one other on the best way. 

Police stated Officer Iurato shot and killed one suspect, 35-year-old Nicholas Brutcher, and wounded his brother, 32-year-old Nathan Brutcher.
