Forth Worth Whataburger shooting: Teen suspect arrested



Family of the 17-year-old sufferer stated he died within the capturing whereas making an attempt to guard his 16-year-old cousin. Police are nonetheless actively trying to find a 3rd suspect

Fort Worth police say they’ve arrested two suspects in connection to a lethal capturing on Friday on the Whataburger close to R.L. Paschal High School. The search continues for a 3rd suspect. 

Fort Worth Police stated 17-year-old Daniel Reed was taken into custody on Saturday. He’s been charged with Murder and Aggravated Assault Causing Bodily Injury. A second suspect, a juvenile, was additionally arrested. Police didn’t determine the second suspect. 

Reed is in jail on a $350,000 complete bond.

What occurred?

At round 4 p.m. on Jan. 20, officers responded to the capturing on the Whataburger car parking zone on West Berry Street. Two teenagers, a woman and a boy, had been taken to a hospital.

The boy was pronounced useless and the woman continues to be within the hospital.

Officers believed all events concerned within the incident — the victims and the suspect — all knew one another. A Fort Worth ISD consultant tells WFAA that Reed withdrew from the district in 2021. The different suspect was not a pupil at Paschal High School both.

The mom of the deceased sufferer, 17-year-old Zechariah Trevino, spoke with WFAA on Sunday to share extra about her son.

Erica Trevino stated he was a junior at Paschal High, a cook dinner at that Whataburger, and was about to turn into a father in just a few months. She stated he was fatally shot whereas making an attempt to guard his 16-year-old cousin, the teenager that was critically injured.

“He did exactly what we taught him to do, that was to protect,” she stated. “His life wasn’t just taken on selfish acts. He changed all that by standing up for what he believed in, protecting.”
