A army service member on the brink of retirement in Florida is pursuing his subsequent profession path with Christmas-themed creativity.
Navy Lt. Cdr. Nathan Mitich moved to Lakeland, Fla. to attend flight college for an airline transport pilot certificates, in response to Fox 13 Tampa Bay. The program requires pilots to realize 1,500 hours of flight time earlier than completion and Mitich determined to make these hours just a little extra enjoyable.
Using a software program referred to as ForeFlight, Mitich created flight plans for his C172 Cessna Skyhawk utilizing GPS coordinates. At first, he drew easy shapes like a circle, star and a trefoil.
When he regarded again on the flight sample of his star, he thought of making a Christmas tree to go along with it, and he started working.

Mitich informed Fox 13 it took round 20 hours of pre-planning to get the flight plan of the Christmas tree good. He added it wasn’t a “technically difficult flight” and the sample consisted of “basic skills on any FAA flight test.”
Taking off from Lakeland Linder Airport, Mitich flew south and commenced creating the tip of the star. Shortly after, he headed south and east to attract two factors on the star after which flew west, zigzagging northeast to southwest, to create the tree’s tiers.
Moving on to the center of the tree, he flew throughout Polk County, all the way down to Manatee County and throughout Hardee County to create the looks of ornaments and bow-topped presents alongside the underside of the tree.
Mitich doubled-back to attract circles in the sky in efforts so as to add strings of lights throughout the tree.

The journey took him about 4 hours and 32 minutes to finish in his C172 Cessna Skyhawk, starting round 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 18 and flying at speeds between 100 and 200 mph.
Mitich informed Fox 13 he solely used a half-tank of gasoline for the festive journey.
