Florida National Guard to assist with prison staffing shortages


Governor DeSantis issued an government order on Friday to activate the Florida National Guard to assist the Florida Department of Corrections in state prisons.

In a press release launched by the Governor’s workplace, DeSantis mentioned the order was issued in an effort to scale back time beyond regulation and supply non permanent aid to correctional officers. During the 2022 legislative session, Governor DeSantis authorised pay will increase for corrections officers in hopes of accelerating recruitment and retention.
