Two Florida brothers and every other man had been charged with federal kidnapping, waterboarding, and torturing a man regardless of realizing he was once now not the objective of their plot, consistent with courtroom paperwork unsealed on Tuesday.
A man got here out of his area on Oct. 13 in Plantation, Florida, and went into his condo’s parking storage between 7:30 and 8 a.m. when he was once approached via 3 men, later recognized as Jeffry Arista, Jonathan Arista, and Raymond Gomez, who brandished a firearm and advised him to get in a black automobile with police lighting, the criticism stated.
“Jeffry Arista asked the victim to identify himself, implying they had kidnapped the wrong individual. The kidnappers further confirmed this when they removed the victim’s wallet from his pocket and checked his identification. At this point, the kidnappers began inquiring why the coworker was using the victim’s car this past Thursday and demanded to know where the money was,” the prison criticism, unsealed in the Southern District of Florida, stated.
“The money was in reference to what the coworker allegedly owed the kidnappers. The kidnappers threatened the victim by putting an electric drill to his skin and pointing firearms towards his head,” the criticism persevered.

The condo the men allegedly introduced the sufferer to was once an Airbnb and at one level, the men introduced the sufferer into the toilet, laid him down, and poured water on his head — “effectively waterboarding him,” the criticism alleged.
When they found out it was once in reality the unsuitable individual, the men then allegedly “brainstormed” on the right way to get the right kind individual to them, which concerned the sufferer being compelled to name the right kind goal and make plans with him, consistent with the criticism.
In order to solicit a big police presence, the sufferer went into his coworker’s trade on Oct. 14 and stated he had a bomb, the criticism alleged. When legislation enforcement confirmed up, one of the alleged kidnappers was once in the space filming the sufferer, and the sufferer identified to legislation enforcement he was once the person who allegedly abducted him.
Law enforcement saved investigating the incident and Gomez was once later arrested after he allegedly admitted to kidnapping the unsuitable individual.
Jeffry Arista and Jonathan Arista had their preliminary appearances in federal courtroom on kidnapping fees on Monday. Gomez has now not but had a courtroom look.
Lawyers for the men didn’t reply to ABC News’ request for remark.
