A Florida man who mistook an alligator for a canine on a leash is predicted to make a full restoration after being badly bitten by the 7ft-long reptile.
Authorities within the state stated the encounter started within the early hours of the morning after a man close to a motel in North Port noticed what he thought was a canine within the bushes.
The man “noticed a dark figure moving along the bushes” and believed it was a “dog with a long leash”, stated Sarasota county sheriff’s spokesman Douglas Johnson in a assertion reported by NBC News.
But the man was shortly disabused of his perception that the creature was a canine when it bit him on his leg. “He attempted to get away at that point and felt the alligator rip a chunk of his muscle/tissue off,” Johnson stated.
The man was taken to a hospital the place he was handled for his wounds, and the alligator was captured and brought to a native farm.
“The victim has been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery,” police added.
