ORLANDO (CBSMiami) – A gaggle of central Florida lawmakers thinks they’ve found out Governor Ron DeSantis’ finish sport in relation to his high-profile battle with Disney over its self-governing district.

“The governor’s actions on Reedy Creek was purely retribution,” stated state Senator Randolph Bracy.
The almost 60-year-old particular district acts as a governing physique for the land the place Walt Disney World sits. During a particular session in April, the state’s legislature handed a rapidly proposed regulation to dismantle the district. I say leave it alone, leave Orange and Osceola County alone and there’s just nothing broken,” stated state Senator Linda Stewart.
The lawmakers are calling the choice reactionary and that will probably be adopted by penalties for residents of these two counties.

Reedy Creek is about to be dissolved on June 1st, 2023.
While the DeSantis administration hasn’t stated what comes subsequent, Stewart stated she heard the governor has one thing in thoughts.
“The governor will establish a new district, that’s our latest word under the general-purpose government, controlled by the governor with appointments by the governor,” she stated.
