Florida Gov. DeSantis Seeks to Permanently Ban Mandates on COVID Vaccine, Masks – NBC 6 South Florida


Less than one month into his second time period in workplace, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is now in search of to completely ban mandates on each the COVID-19 vaccine and masks.

DeSantis made the announcement Tuesday in Panama City, saying he needed to defend the state from what he known as a “biomedical security state” whereas persevering with his criticism of each the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Biden administration.

“When the world lost its mind, Florida was a refuge of sanity, serving strongly as freedom’s linchpin,” DeSantis mentioned. “These measures will ensure Florida remains this way and will provide landmark protections for free speech for medical practitioners.”

NBC affiliate WPTV-TV reported that if permitted by the Florida Legislature, the measures would limit shot and masks guidelines in all colleges and stop private and non-private employers from hiring and firing based mostly on shot standing. 

“We need to lead with this by making all of these protections permanent in Florida statute, which we’re going to go in the upcoming legislative session,” DeSantis mentioned.

House Minority Leader Fentrice Driskell, a Democrat from Tampa, mentioned she worries folks will undergo with out protections and misinformation will compound.
