A Florida fire chief was accused of fatally shooting a shop owner after a dispute over a business deal, authorities stated Monday.
Brian Keith Easterling was arrested on suspicion of homicide within the shooting Sunday, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office stated in an announcement.
Surveillance video allegedly captured Easterling getting into the shop and shooting the 63-year-old man, the sheriff’s workplace stated.
The man, who has not been publicly recognized, allegedly owed Easterling cash, the sheriff’s workplace stated.
The shop was additionally not recognized.
Easterling was taken into custody at his residence in Holt and is awaiting extradition to close by Okaloosa County, the sheriff’s workplace stated.
He was suspended from his duties Monday by officers with the Baker Fire District, a volunteer division northeast of Pensacola, and Assistant Chief Mark McKenzie was appointed appearing chief, McKenzie stated in an interview.
McKenzie, who stated he has identified Easterling for 10 years, wasn’t conscious of the allegations towards him.
He described Easterling as a “dedicated servant” and stated he had “no negative comments” to offer about him.
