Florida federal and state posts will be decided Nov. 8 | News


Mail-in voting for the Nov. 8 common election in Volusia County is underway.

The deadline to register to voted was Oct. 11. The deadline to request a vote-by-mail poll is Oct. 29.

Early Voting will be from 8 a.m. to six p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, to Saturday, Aug. 20. For websites and extra information, go to volusiaelections.gov or name (386) 736-5930.

Here are the statewide and state candidates on the overall election poll.

State Senate District 8

Democrat: Andrea Williams, 40, Titusville, has 5 years of non-profit management, eight years of disaster administration expertise as an analytical professional, and a household with a army background. She earned a bachelor’s diploma in psychology and a grasp’s diploma in human sources improvement.

She stated she is operating for workplace as a result of Florida is in disaster (*8*)

Republican: Tommy A. Wright (incumbent): Declined to take part.

State Representative District 28

Democrat: John Clifford Navarra, 58, Daytona Beach, has been a trainer at Pine Ridge High School in Deltona for 23 years. He stated he’s operating for workplace as a result of he needs to cut back poverty.

Republican: Tom Leek, 53, Ormond Beach, is the incumbent and is on the overall election poll. Prior to beginning legislation faculty, Rep. Leek served as legislative aide to Florida State Rep. William Sublette. After legislation faculty, he returned dwelling to start a 20+ yr legislation profession the place he was president and managing associate of his agency. He is now chief authorized officer for Foundation Risk Partners Corp. of Daytona Beach. He is a Seabreeze High School graduate, earned a bachelor’s diploma from the University of Central Florida and a juris physician from Stetson University College of Law.

He stated he’s operating for re-election as a result of, “Having grown up and raised our family here, my wife, Michelle, and I felt the call to serve the community. I have been blessed with six successful years in the House and hope to continue to serve Volusia County in my last term by passing more meaningful legislation for our community.”

State Representative District 29

Rick Karl, 67, of DeLand was born and raised in Volusia County. Mr. Karl is the previous director of the Daytona Beach International Airport and a enterprise lawyer. He earned a bachelor’s diploma from Florida State University and a juris doctorate from the University of Florida.

He stated he’s operating for workplace as a result of he “believes the present political institution in Tallahassee is out of contact with what Floridians really need and want from their authorities. (He) understands it’s time to give attention to the true kitchen desk points impacting working individuals and their households.

Republican: Webster Barnaby, 62, Deltona, was born in Birmingham, England, however after working within the hospitality trade within the U.S. Virgin Islands, moved to Deltona in 1991. He is a district supervisor for National Write Your Congressman, with which he has been since 1994. He was a Deltona City Councilman and was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in November 2020. He earned an affiliate diploma in enterprise from Birmingham Metropolitan College.

He stated he’s operating for workplace, “To help preserve the freedoms our founding fathers gave us by ensuring that ordinary Americans have a voice in our state government.”
