Florida couple murdered by neighbor over ‘HOA issues’, sheriff says


STUART, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida householders affiliation president and her husband have been fatally shot by a neighbor over obvious HOA points on Saturday, based on deputies.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of two folks shot at Cedar Pointe Condominiums in Stuart at 3:18 p.m. Cedar Pointe is a apartment advanced for retirees.

Sheriff William Snyder told TCPalm the couple – recognized as Ginger and Harry Wallace, each age 81 – was discovered simply toes away from their door with gunshot wounds of their chests. Harry was reportedly discovered clutching his home keys.

TCPalm reported that the suspect, Hugh Hootman, 75, was present in his house and surrendered to the SWAT group inside 20 minutes of their arrival. He has reportedly been charged with two counts of first-degree homicide.

Sheriff Snyder mentioned Ginger was president of the apartment advanced’s HOA and the couple had gotten into an argument with Hootman within the days previous to the taking pictures.

“It does appear to us from witness statements that the shooter and Ginger had some disagreement over HOA issues,” Sheriff Snyder advised TCPalm. “I don’t know what those were, though.”
