TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida lawmakers are asserting a bill Thursday that goals to make sure antisemitic acts a hate crime.
Florida Rep. Mike Caruso filed House Bill 269, an anti-hate crime bill, which might additionally enhance penalties for hate crimes to a felony.

Caruso mentioned in a tweet this week the bill is in response to latest acts of antisemitism in Florida.

On New Year’s Eve, hateful phrases focusing on the Jewish group showed up on the side of a downtown Orlando building, displaying the phrases “vax the Jews.”
Per week later, neighbors in west Orange County said flyers filled with antisemitic statements confirmed up of their entrance yards and driveways.
Pictures of the flyers shared with News 6 present the hateful rhetoric and disinformation concerning the Jewish folks, blaming them for the slave commerce and COVID-19 pandemic.
And a put up on social media showed antisemitic graffiti in the bathroom of an Orange County high school earlier this month.
Caruso can be talking alongside state Reps. Randy Fine and Vicky Lopez on the Florida Capitol in Tallahassee at 9:30 a.m.
