The district superintendent mentioned police have been investigating the incident and all college students concerned can be “disciplined to the fullest extent possible.”
FORT WORTH, Texas — “Several fights” broke out after the North Crowley-Crowley basketball game outdoors of the college, in response to a letter from Crowley ISD Superintendent Dr. Michael McFarland to parents.Â
McFarland mentioned within the letter that they had a sellout crowd on the game Friday evening, and the groups competed of their rivalry with nice sportsmanship, however a “small group of individuals chose to engage in behavior that was unacceptable and will not be tolerated in Crowley ISD.”
The superintendent mentioned that a number of fights occurred outdoors of North Crowley High School after the game, and college directors, Crowley ISD cops and Fort Worth cops responded to finish the fights and disperse the crowds.Â
“We are grateful for this collaboration and partnership, and we are thankful that no one was seriously injured and no weapons were involved,” McFarland mentioned within the letter.
According to the superintendent, the district is working with police to research the incident and can self-discipline all college students concerned to the “fullest extent possible.”
“We will continue to review and improve our safety and security measures as we work together to keep our schools and community safe,” the letter continued. “This event is not an indication of who we are, but we will learn from it. I ask for help from parents, educators and the entire community to reiterate to our children the expectations we have for appropriate behavior.”
The Crowley Police Department instructed WFAA the incident was outdoors of their jurisdiction and directed contact to Fort Worth police. Fort Worth police instructed WFAA its officers assisted with the incident. Crowley ISD police directed WFAA to the superintendent’s letter to oldsters.
