Feds might provide money to raze and rebuild Robb Elementary, state lawmaker says


A state senator representing Uvalde, Texas, says President Joe Biden indicated a willingness to provide federal money to raze Robb Elementary School and construct one other as a replacement following the capturing there.

Texas state Sen. Roland Gutierrez, a Democrat, mentioned Biden floated the thought of federal grants for constructing a brand new college and paying for long-term well being care wants locally when he visited the grieving neighborhood this weekend.

“He said, ‘I’m not going to leave here, we’re gonna bring resources, we’re gonna look at bringing a federal grant to raze the school,’” Gutierrez mentioned Monday on MSNBC. “Every parent that I’ve talked to doesn’t want to see this school again, is traumatized. Every little kid that I’ve talked to is scared to even go near the school.”

Gutierrez made related remarks to the native news outlet KSAT over the weekend. There was no rapid remark from the White House.

Other mass capturing websites even have been razed and rebuilt, together with the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

The president and the primary woman visited Uvalde on Sunday, assembly with first responders and grieving with the households of the 19 kids and two academics killed within the capturing rampage on the elementary college.

The Bidens visited the varsity and attended mass at an area church, the place demonstrators close by chanted “Do something.” The president mouthed again, “We will.”

Speaking with MSNBC, Gutierrez added that he broke down whereas speaking with Jill Biden.
