Farah says ‘2023 will probably be my last year’ as he targets ‘one last shot’ at the London Marathon

Mo Farah has indicated 2023 will be his ultimate 12 months as knowledgeable athlete after signing up for a last crack at the London Marathon.

The four-time Olympic champion was pressured to withdraw from last 12 months’s race with a hip damage, however will take to the streets of the capital on April 23 in what may be his aggressive farewell to the sport.

‘I’m very proud of what I have achieved,’ Farah mentioned. ‘I just want to give myself one more shot and see what I can do. But I’ve got nothing to prove.

‘I’m not going to go to the Olympics, 2023 will be probably my last year. But if it came down to it, towards the end of the year, and you are capable and got picked for your country, then I would never turn that down.

‘For now it’s just taking one step at a time and getting ready for the London Marathon which is the big one.’

Farah, who will be 40 on the marathon begin line, added: ‘It is about my body. I’m not a spring chicken anymore and you can’t keep coming back and getting into races unless you are in the right shape.
