Family calls for justice after man killed in I-45 crash

SPRING, Texas — The household of the man killed in a horrific accident on the North Freeway this week held a vigil Saturday on the location the place the daddy of 5 died.

Lee Simmons, Jr., 32, was killed Thursday evening when a tire flew off an enormous rig on I-45 close to the Louetta exit.

His household says they need justice.

In the stifling afternoon warmth, they walked, halting visitors and thru tall grass to a slim strip of sidewalk beneath a loud overpass.

When they received to the spot, they stopped and prayed.

“I can feel his spirit,” Lee Simmons’ widow, Christina, stated.

Lee was killed when a tire flew off a big truck, bouncing off the hood of his automobile, then smashing into his windshield.

His 11-year-old son was driving in the again seat.

Recently launched from the hospital, the boy returned to be alongside his mom Saturday, to the place the place he noticed his father die.

“He’s not doing ok,” Christina said. “He’s not. This is very hard for him. But I’m glad he made it out alive.”

“He was a very good husband, a very great dad, a church-going man,” Christina said. “I can’t believe that we lost him.”

She says her household has been destroyed.

“We’re lost without him,” said Christina Simmons. “We’re going to miss him, and I want justice for him and all his family.”

The driver of the massive rig remained on the crash web site till deputies arrived.

Investigators say the truck’s upkeep information are being reviewed.

No felony prices have been filed.

Although the household is nowhere close to a way of closure, they are saying they’re grateful for the help they’ve been proven to this point.

They admit they’ll want it in the powerful days forward, for the spouse who misplaced her accomplice, the infants that may by no means know him, and the son who didn’t get to inform his dad goodbye.

The household has arrange a GoFundMe web page to assist them bury Lee and help themself.
