FAA looks to require cockpit technology to reduce close calls

The transfer follows a sequence of close calls involving industrial planes this 12 months.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is having a look to reduce close calls by means of requiring planes be provided with technology that may alert pilots if they are touchdown on an improper runway.

The company wrote to a committee of aviation professionals Friday, asking them to supply tips on how to put into effect the tech, pronouncing, “One serious close call is one too many, and we must act now and consider everything to get us closer to our goal.”

The technology would alert flight crews when the airplane is aligned with a floor that’s not a runway, when the airplane is aligned with the improper runway, and when a runway is simply too quick for the airplane to land on it, the company stated.

While no longer but a demand, some industrial planes are already provided with the technology.

The transfer comes following a sequence of regarding close calls involving industrial planes this 12 months.
