Ex-Army officer from Cooper City gets prison for having child sex abuse videos



FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A Broward County armed products and services veteran is dealing with prison time on some very severe fees.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 49-year-old Edgar Ali Cerda of Cooper City was once sentenced to 42 months in federal prison adopted by means of 15 years of supervised free up following his conviction on child pornography fees.

Cerda, who’s a former lieutenant colonel with the U.S. Army, was once arrested in March of 2021 after officials searched his digital units and located “multiple images and videos depicting sexual exploitation of children under 12 years of age, with one victim as young as two years old,” according to a free up from the DOJ.

According to a federal legal criticism, government gained a tip from messaging app Kik that Cerda was once sharing sexual abuse videos involving kids at the platform.

The criticism states that Cerda claimed he was once most effective sharing subject material in Kik discussion groups for round two months as a result of he stated it was once “something new” and stated he “deleted everything when it became too much and the videos were too young.”

He pleaded to blame in a Fort Lauderdale federal court in December.
