Driver arrested after crash through fence at Texas Capitol


AUSTIN, Texas – A driver has been arrested after an SUV crashed through a fence at the Texas State Capitol, authorities stated.

Troopers noticed the automobile drive through the southwestern portion of the fence about 6:40 p.m. Thursday in Austin, in line with an announcement from Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Victor Taylor.

The automobile was then pushed up the south steps of the constructing earlier than it stopped, Taylor stated.

“The driver/sole occupant is in custody. There are no additional known threats at this time,” in line with a DPS memo obtained by the Austin-American Statesman.

“The scene is secure and safe for normal activity,” the memo stated.

Taylor stated the investigation was ongoing and unspecified expenses have been pending towards the driving force. The driver was not recognized and no different information was instantly launched.
