Drainage concerns in downtown Miami as rain keeps falling from tropical system


MIAMI – Downtown Miami is undoubtedly susceptible to flooding. 

14th at Biscayne Blvd. is predicted to have some points as the rain intensifies all through the evening.

Drainage concerns in the world stem from rising water ranges in the river and the bay feeding water again into the drainage system, as effectively as trash clogging the pipes.

Water was roughly a bit greater than ankle-deep round 4 p.m. Friday. With the sunshine rain, CBS4’s Joe Gorchow noticed some people on a tour bus carrying rain gear, having fun with the sights and sounds of Miami.

In different elements of Miami-Dade, waters have been seen rising round cellular houses in Hialeah.  And that is one of many risks with a storm like this dumping rain slowly in South Florida.

Miami Fire Rescue does have sources at its disposal to assist mitigate flooding in sure areas.

“The department of public works and fire rescue acquired throughout the course of the last two years portable pumps that can be deployed in areas that we know that flood even more than the capacity of the pumps that are there,” defined Assistant Fire Chief and Emergency Manager Robert Hevia.
