The northbound lanes close to Illinois Avenue and southbound lanes close to Ewing Avenue had been closed for greater than two hours Sunday and caused miles of traffic backup, the division’s on-line feed confirmed round 4 p.m.

The standstill was a result of downed powerlines on either side of the freeway, WFAA-TV (Channel 8) reported.

According to the division’s web site, a “collision” round 2 p.m. caused the lanes to shutdown.
