An Alabama man who was arrested 12 years after a lady went lacking was convicted of capital murder in her slaying Thursday regardless of authorities never finding a body.
Jurors convicted Derrill Richard Ennis, 41, in the slaying of Lori Ann Slesinski, 24, throughout their second day of deliberations, news retailers reported.
Lee County prosecutors have mentioned they have been searching for the demise penalty in the demise of Slesinski, who has been lacking since 2006.
Ennis was obsessive about Slesinski and killed her when she refused to be greater than buddies, prosecutors argued. Ennis testified they’d consensual intercourse and Slesinski vanished after leaving to fulfill a drug seller.
Slesinski’s mom reported her lacking June 13, 2006, and her burned-out automotive was found the subsequent day. Ennis left Auburn after being questioned by police and was arrested in Virginia in 2018.
Under questioning through the trial, Ennis denied dumping Slesinski’s body and mentioned he did not know what occurred to her.
Ennis’ semen was found inside Slesinski’s cellular house, forensic proof confirmed, and investigators found a cellphone, minus its lengthy twine, in her bed room. A rolled cigarette with Ennis’ DNA was found close to Slesinski’s burned automobile, and the person had contemporary scratches on his arms and fingers when questioned by police.
