Deputies stand by tasering of 11-year-old boy with knife making suicidal remarks



POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A taser takedown by Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies is inflicting controversy as a result of the one who used to be tasered used to be an 11-year-old boy.

According to an incident record, it began over video video games.

That resulted in 11-year-old Wesley Hinton getting offended and grabbing a knife earlier than making suicidal threats.

“It still traumatizes me to this day,” Hinton advised Local 10 News.

It came about in January, when Broward Sheriff’s deputies have been known as to a Pompano Beach rental after receiving a 911 name from Hinton’s 10-year-old sister.

Video of the incident presentations Hinton with what police described as a big butcher knife in his hand.

Deputies making an attempt to get him to drop the knife for a minimum of half-hour.

“The juvenile male, according to deputy, continued to reiterate had intentions to harm himself,” stated BSO spokesperson Carey Codd. “And at some point the deputy said he ran that large knife over parts of his body, stomach and wrist and chest.”

At one level, Hinton put the knife down and he used to be then tased by deputies.

According to his stepfather, deputies had been known as to house earlier than, pronouncing the boy has “multiple disabilities.”

“Before they would treat him better, they would deescalate the situation,” stated Jonathan Friedland, Hinton’s stepfather.

Hinton isn’t dealing with any prison fees for the incident.

“Deputies utilized their training and were able to save that juvenile life and also prevent injury to anyone else,” stated Codd.
