“The last item I would love to see is the Asian community resorting to weapons. What’s unhappy is we’re not so used to [the use of] lethal weapons when there’s a dispute,’’ mentioned Jonas Park, an Asian community activist.
Park was left shocked when he heard the news in regards to the capturing on Saturday on the ballroom dancing venue in Monterey Park, close to Los Angeles at an occasion celebrating the Lunar New Year.
“This man who shot at individuals was a frequent dance corridor goer. He knew individuals,’’ mentioned Park.
Police say, the suspected gunman, 72-year-old Huu Can Tran was a former volunteer dance teacher. While police are nonetheless attempting to determine the motive in these latest shootings, Park talked in regards to the struggles typically impacting Asian communities.
