Couple in central Florida retirement community found slain


MOUNT DORA — A pair dwelling in a central Florida retirement community was found slain in their residence, and a girl who was seen driving the couple’s automobile has been arrested, authorities stated.

The couple, Darryl Getman, 83, and his spouse, Sharon, 80, have been believed to have been killed on Saturday in their residence in Mount Dora, Florida, situated about 30 miles northwest of Orlando.

A lady found driving the couple’s automobile was arrested on automobile theft. Authorities wouldn’t establish her or say the place she was arrested.

The lady entered the residence advanced the place the couple lived on Friday afternoon, “dressed in a particular way,” and was escorted out by safety, Mount Dora Interim Police Chief Mike Gibson stated Tuesday at a news convention.

Later that evening, she went to an residence in the retirement community and requested the resident if she may take a bathe. The resident hit a safety panic button, and the lady fled, the police chief stated.
