TULSA, Okla. (KFOR) – An Oklahoma couple discovered themselves in a battle with Starbucks after a glitch price them 1000’s.
According to NBC News, Jesse O’Dell went to a Tulsa Starbucks and ordered two coffees for $11.83. Later within the day, his spouse’s bank card was declined whereas procuring.
That’s when he says he realized that they had been charged for a $4,444.44 tip on their espresso order.
The couple referred to as their bank card firm, however have been advised they couldn’t dispute the cost as a result of it was “legitimate.”
O’Dell stated Starbucks despatched him checks to reimburse the expense, however these checks bounced. As a results of the fiasco, he stated he needed to cancel a household trip.
Tulsa police investigated the case however decided the gratuity was both added by chance or by a machine error.
A spokesperson for Starbucks advised Nexstar the explanation the unique checks bounced was as a result of there was a typo. The challenge has since been mounted, the spokesperson stated. They issued new checks, which have been cashed final Monday.
“This is an unfortunate situation that is now resolved,” the spokesperson stated.
