Company opening Georgia facility without any ‘discretionary incentives’ | Georgia



(The Center Square) — The state didn’t supply any discretionary incentives to a Japanese probiotic beverage corporate development a Bartow County facility, officers mentioned Tuesday.

Yakult U.S.A. plans to spend $305 million at the beverage manufacturing facility in Bartow County’s Highland 75 Corporate / Industrial Park, its 2d U.S. facility. It expects to create 90 jobs on the Northwest Georgia location.

“There were no discretionary incentives involved in this project,” a Georgia Department of Economic Development rep tells The Center Square.

The Fountain Valley, California-based corporate used to be shaped in 1990 and finished its first U.S. product production facility in 2014.

“Yakult was created in Japan in 1935 and has more than 80 years of history,” Yutaka Misumi, president and CEO of Yakult U.S.A., mentioned in a statement. “Today, the product is sold in 40 countries, including at major retailers in the United States.

“The State of Georgia meets our trade wishes when it comes to the local weather for our manufacturing, the logistics for the product distribution, and the sure make stronger from the state and the county,” the company executive added. “We imagine that the brand new facility would be the primary provider for jap and central U.S. markets. We are happy that we can supply extra alternatives for our shoppers within the U.S. with the opening of this new location.”
