Collins family honored by Tomball High School football team



Carson Collins was one of many 5 family members killed earlier this 12 months.

TOMBALL, Texas — Before Friday evening’s recreation between the Tomball Cougars and the Stratford Spartans, the varsity took a while to honor their former teammate and his family.

The Tomball group honored former participant Carson Collins, who was tragically killed over the summer season by an escaped inmate.

His #5 jersey was introduced to his mother and father with gamers and followers sporting ‘Collins Strong’ bracelets as properly.

Carson was one of many 5 members of the Collins family who had been killed by an escaped inmate in June. His grandfather, Mark, alongside along with his brothers Waylon and Hudson and cousin Bryson, had been killed at a cabin subsequent to the family ranch in Centerville.

Gonzalo Lopez escaped again in May after attacking a corrections officer and hijacking a jail bus in Leon County whereas being transported between prisons.

On June 2, authorities stated Lopez killed the Collins family and stole their truck earlier than making his option to a rural space close to San Antonio. Lopez was then killed in a shootout.

“This is devastation,” stated Chris Collins, the daddy of Waylon, Carson and Hudson again in June throughout a funeral service. “While we are hurting more than we could possibly imagine, we will be OK.”

Collins and different family members known as the homicide by Lopez an act of evil.

“Even that night before, we had all the information … I looked up in my backyard, and I said, ‘God, tell me my babies are OK,’” Collins stated. “Almost audibly, I could hear, ‘They’re OK. I’ve got them. They’re OK.’ No, it was not the ‘OK’ that a flesh-and-blood father wanted, but in that moment, I had the most supernatural peace that I’d ever had in my entire life.”

Family members stated they had been overwhelmed by the love proven to them from across the nation throughout their time of overwhelming loss.
