Collin County: Dallas man accused of having 6,000 fentanyl pills



Eduardo Reyes is being held in lieu of $402,500 bond, the Collin County Sheriff’s Office mentioned.

COLLIN COUNTY, Texas — A Dallas man is going through fees after 6,000 fentanyl pills and a handgun have been discovered inside his automobile throughout a visitors cease in Collin County, officers mentioned.

On Friday, Feb. 10, the Collin County Sheriff’s Office mentioned deputies and members with the North Texas Sheriff’s Criminal Interdiction Unit (NTXCIU) carried out a visitors cease on U.S. 75 and Republic Drive in Plano. 

The driver, recognized as Dallas resident Eduardo Reyes, consented to a search of his automobile, deputies mentioned. In that search, the fentanyl pills and gun have been recovered. 

Reyes was then transported to the Collin County Sheriff’s Office and charged with the manufacture/supply of a penalty group 1 narcotic > 400 grams, officers mentioned.

Reyes is being held in lieu of $402,500 bond. 

Collin County Sheriff Jim Skinner launched an announcement regarding his workplace’s dedication to assist curb fentanyl distribution. In half he mentioned, “This seizure illustrates our continuing commitment to use every resource and tactic available to help stem the flow of this deadly poison from entering our communities.” 

This cease comes after current news of 10 overdoses, together with three teen fentanyl deaths in close by Carrollton Texas. The overdoses occurred from September 2022 to February 2023. Two adults have been arrested and charged.

Following that news, Texas Governor Greg Abbott took to Twitter, mentioned “The fentanyl crisis plaguing our country has tragic consequences. Too many Texas families have lost children to deadly fentanyl. Their loss will not be in vain.”

Abbott mentioned state legislators are desirous to create stricter punishments regarding fentanyl.
