College Football Playoff targeting Air Force’s Richard Clark as executive director to replace Bill Hancock

The College Football Playoff is targeting United States Air Force Academy superintendent Lieutenant General Richard Clark as its subsequent executive director, resources advised CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd. The two aspects have mutual hobby and a deal is anticipated to be reached within the coming days, according to ESPN.

Clark, 59, would replace Bill Hancock, who is ready to retire as executive director in February 2025 after the CFP strikes to a 12-team fformat all over the 2024 school soccer season. Clark graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1986 and was once a linebacker for the Falcons soccer staff. He has flown in a trio of Middle East conflicts all over his carrier time and has held his position on the academy since September 2020.

Reports of Clark in line to replace Hancock come sooner or later after the CFP performed a gathering with FBS commissioners and Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick within the Dallas house. 

Plans for Hancock’s retirement have been introduced in June. Hancock has directed the College Football Playoff since its inception in 2012 and was once identified as its first worker. The CFP is in its ultimate season with a four-team box, which has been the structure because it was once applied in time for the 2014 season

“My time at the CFP has been a dream come true,” Hancock stated in a commentary on the time. “I cherish what I do and the folks I get to work with. And I do love college football. Now I will run through the tape, as the track coaches say, and then I will enjoy whatever next steps are waiting for Nicki and me.”
