Chicken bone broth recall on products sold at Costco

Costco consumers may wish to take a look at their house pantry to verify any broth they are going to have bought from the large field store isn’t impacted via a contemporary recall.

In a Sept. 22 recall letter to Costco participants on the wholesaler’s site, TreeHouse Foods introduced that its 32-ounce cartons of Culinary Treasures Organic Chicken Bone Broth “may have the potential for non-pathogenic microbial contamination,” and warned shoppers to not eat them.

The recall affects broth products sold between Sept. 8, 2022, and Sept. 22, 2023, bearing a “best before” date of Feb. 23, 2024 and the lot code 98E08242.

“If you still have this item with a Best By Date of 02/23/2024, we ask that you discontinue use of the item,” the letter said. “Please discard the product or return the item to your local Costco for a full refund.”

The recalled products have the Costco merchandise #1095592 and retail UPC 67200055858 on the cartons, or 67200055865 on the Club Pack.

The meals processing corporate stated the recalled cartons could seem bloated and feature a “shortened shelf-life” with “potential for early spoilage.”

As of time of newsletter, there were no sicknesses reported in reference to the recalled products, consistent with TreeHouse Foods.
