California authorities “humanely euthanize” 143 roosters after cockfighting bust


Authorities broke up a big cockfighting occasion over the weekend and stated they had been compelled to euthanize practically 150 roosters discovered at a Southern California dwelling, animal management and sheriff’s division officers stated.

Deputies late Friday found about 200 individuals on the residence within the metropolis of Jurupa Valley and “evidence of an illegal cockfighting event and multiple deceased or severely injured birds,” the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department stated in a statement.

An further 143 birds had been present in cages on the property about 50 miles east of Los Angeles, the assertion stated.

Officers with the county’s Department of Animal Services gathered all the reside roosters “and humanely euthanized them, a process that lasted until about 6 a.m.,” in keeping with a statement from that company.

“The birds must be euthanized because Animal Services cannot adopt out such birds as they are valuable and they would almost always end up back in a cockfighting ring. They are not suitable as pets,” in keeping with the company’s assertion.

An unidentified man who instructed officers he owned the birds was cited for possession of preventing blades utilized in cockfighting, which is a misdemeanor, officers stated. The investigation is continuous.
