BSO identifies domestic violence suspect shot, killed by deputies


OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – The sound of gunfire rang out close to companies alongside the 800 block of Prospect Road in Oakland Park on Wednesday.

That’s when the Broward Sheriff’s Office stated its deputies had been pressured to open fireplace on a person who refused to agree to their instructions, and faced them.

Tim Miller used to be operating subsequent door at a unmarried supply trade and advised Local 10 News he first noticed the suspect early within the morning sitting in his automotive.

“I got here around seven in the morning he was already here,” Miller stated. “He was in the back corner of my parking lot, not bothering anybody. I didn’t pay any attention to him. They came back and got me in my parking lot and said hey police are in the parking lot. Something is going on.”

According to BSO, deputies with the company’s Crime Suppression Team within the Oakland Park district positioned a domestic violence suspect at roughly 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. In the mobile phone video we got, the deputies will also be heard shouting instructions to a person named Alex.

He has since been recognized as 51-year-old Alexander Staal, who police stated used to be sought after for a number of legal domestic violence fees that had been associated with a contemporary incident.

Deputies stated Staal used to be sought after for tried kidnapping, housebreaking of a residing with battery, annoyed stalking after injunction for cover and domestic battery, keen on an incident that came about in Oakland Park on Sunday.

“It was like a long time,” stated Miller. “They were asking, and asking and asking. And then he finally exited his vehicle. Then they asked him to get down to the ground.”

Then right away, the video presentations the suspect rise up and lift his arm, showing to be conserving one thing, when a number of pictures are fired.

“Why he just didn’t want to do what they asked him to do, I don’t know,” stated Miller. “It’s crazy.”

The deputies who opened fireplace were put on administrative accountability pending the end result of an investigation into the capturing.
