DALLAS — Broadway Dallas unveiled its first public exhibition, ‘South Dallas Stories: Fair Park Uprooted,’ at the Music Hall at Fair Park Thursday morning.
The occasion marked the sixtieth Anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s go to to the house.
South Dallas Stories: Fair Park Uprooted will make clear the evolution of Fair Park/South Dallas, and it’ll characteristic residents’ tales, historic artifacts and memorabilia.
It can even spotlight how racism performed a task within the improvement of the neighborhood, Broadway Dallas says.
“As members of this community, we feel that it is important to acknowledge the past and honor our neighbors in a meaningful way,” Ken Novice, president of Broadway Dallas stated in a press launch Thursday.
“This exhibition is a vital component of Broadway Dallas’ racial equity journey, and we are proud to use our platform to create this learning experience for all who visit the Music Hall. I’d like to thank and celebrate the many community members who participated with us in creating the Uprooted installation.”
The exhibit, which was underwritten by The Addy Foundation, might be positioned contained in the entrance foyer of the Music Hall and is free and open to the general public from 9 a.m. to five p.m. on weekdays and through performances at the Music Hall.
Contributors of the exhibit embrace Daisha Art Gallery, Dallas Public Library, Forest Forward, FGIII Fine Art Productions, Soul Rep Theatre Company, Jodi Voice-Yellowfish, Lucy Cain, Dr. Marta M. Torres, Stuart Williams, and The Honorable Diane Ragsdale.
