The Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns will in the future make the transfer to the SEC. Since the landmark announcement within the Summer of 2021, the lingering query has been, when?
The present grant of rights settlement between the Big 12 and their tv companions runs by the 2024-2025 faculty calendar. However, it’s been assumed that Oklahoma and Texas would negotiate a buy-out of their contracts to make an early exit for his or her new athletic residence.
Speaking to the media at Big 12 basketball media days, Brett Yormark described that the two schools are committed to staying by the tip of the present grand of rights settlement.
“They’ve committed themselves in advance of me getting here and they’ve reiterated that commitment,” Yormark mentioned at Big 12 basketball media days. “So, they’ll be here through the duration.”
That appears about as clear because it might be that the Sooners and the Longhorns have two extra seasons after this one within the Big 12.
Next 12 months, the convention will welcome 4 new members as BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF take the convention from 10 to 14 faculties. Yormark mentioned in his media session that the convention won’t implement divisions. Instead, every group will play all 14 members over a two-year interval.
While the SEC transfer could not come as early as some would love, at the least there’s an opportunity we’ll have this to sit up for in 2023 or 2024.
