WASHINGTON – The Transportation Department on Friday awarded $653 million in grants to upgrade and beef up 41 water-based ports around the United States.
The grants are a part of the $1 trillion in infrastructure investments integrated in a bipartisan legislation signed via President Joe Biden in 2021. Biden administration officers mentioned the projects being supported will permit ports to meet larger transport calls for in addition to reducing prices for shoppers and bettering employee protection.
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg mentioned on a decision with journalists that provide chain demanding situations beginning in 2021 drove up costs because the United States recovered from the pandemic.
